Diptex®:
Prevulcanised natural and synthetic rubber latex compounds with a range
of physical properties used primarily in the dipping industry. Diptex®
prevulcanised compounds are available with a range of dry film physical
properties from low to high modulus. Other characteristics found in our
Diptex® compounds are excellent clarity, high tensile strength, good
resistance to ageing and long shelf life. Our compounds can be used for
either heat sensitised dipping or in the coagulant dipping process.
Whilst Diptex® is mainly used in the dipping process, it can also be
spray or brush applied, coated onto textiles or used for manufacture of
sheet. Cold casting is another option, with the ability to vary the
hardness and flexibility of the finished product.
VLP has been manufacturing Diptex® for more than 30 years using a hot
cure process. The process is strictly controlled ensuring consistent
quality and technical performance to meet the most exacting
requirements.
Incorporated into the Diptex® range are grades which comply with
requirements on the level of extractable nitrosamines (10ppb maximum)
and nitrosatables (200ppb maximum) for use in the manufacture of
healthcare goods, such as soothers and teats.
Diptex® compounds can be typically used in the following industries and
applications:
- Leisure >
Balloons, Dry suit seals, Mould making
- Household >
Carpet backing, Flooring screeds
- Medical >
Teats and soothers, penile sheaths, condoms and catheters, re-breathe
bags (supplied as a conductive grade),
anaesthetic face masks
This is just a selection
of the main applications for our prevulcanised natural and synthetic
latex. Many other areas of use exist which we would be pleased
to
advise upon.

FAQ&A
Q: Do you have a sealing product for protecting frosted
(sandblast) glass surfaces from finger marks?
A: The product recommended for your application
is PV 5396M or PV 5396M thickened. This is a water based latex
that can be painted onto the glass surface. Once dried, the
glass can be handled with the rubber but it can then be easily
peeled off as a film when no longer required. The latex does
not leave any film on the glass.
Q: I am looking for a coloured latex compound that can
be sprayed onto fabric. Is Diptex available in different colours
and what equipment would be suitable for spraying?
A: The Diptex range of products are mainly
based on prevulcanised natural latex and used for the dipping
industry. However, they can be sprayed. There is no need for
specialist spraying equipment, standard paint spraying kit from
companies such as DeVillbis or Graco can be used. Diptex can
be coloured with water based pigments but we do not supply the
latex ready coloured. Being water based there are no solvent
issues requiring flame proof equipment, however, there are some
ammonia fumes evolved during the spraying and drying process.
